“To learn a language is to have one more window from which to look at the world.”
– Chinese Proverb.
Organized on the 8th August 2016, ‘Lingua Franca’ was the first in series of WGS Knowledge Exhibitions for the year 2016-17.The exhibition highlighted the expedition of English, Hindi, Sanskrit, Kannada and French from its ancient to modern form. The theme of the exhibition was poetry and drama down the ages.
Our Academic Director, Mrs. Sarada Chandrasekaran, welcomed the Honorable Chief Guest, Mr. Narayan Lal Mathur, for the event. Mr. Mathur is an expert in and gives lectures on the religious scriptures – The Ram Charith Manas and The Bhagawad Gita. Our special guest of honor, our Chairman, Dr. Purnachandra Rao, graced the occasion with his presence.
A complete roller coaster ride of knowing about poems, meters, genres, poetic liberties to dramas, Nava Rasas, quotes, correct usages and the famous poets were showcased under one roof by the students of Grades V and VI on the Lingua Franca Day. They enthralled the visitors with their poised presentations. Parents were quizzed and given prizes. On and on it was a scintillating performance! “
