“Art Expression is a unique way of linking imagination and creativity with the shades and tints of colours and paints.” Collage has been one of the most relevant forms of art making. It’s resonant because it is made of stuff that we see every day. It’s familiar and it reflects our reality. In collage making an individual expresses a thought with his/ her own ideas, tries new things, and experiments with changing materials. It engages children’s senses and supports the development of cognitive, social-emotional and multisensory skills. As children progress in school and beyond, it continues to provide opportunities for brain development, mastery, self-esteem and creativity. The best way to develop learning through creativity is to let children use a variety of materials and give them time to create an art on their own. With this thought in mind, the Primary wing of WGS organized a CCA Inter House Collage making competition on 10/01/2020 (Friday) for Grade 1 and 2. The children were allowed to use various materials to create a collage on the theme “Joy of Giving”. Children created their master pieces with great enthusiasm and the competition provided an enriching activity in which participants put forth their imagination creatively. The participants gave a tough time to our judge, Ms. Chitra Kulkarni who was overwhelmed seeing their collages. The collages were judged on various parameters like incorporation of the theme given, usage of materials, presentation and creativity. Indeed, the competition was a showcase of art exploding from every piece of collage. Whoever the winner may be, the budding stars of WGS won every heart with their art which made everyone a winner.
