Whitefield Global School hosted an expert talk on September 19th as part of our comprehensive School Health and Wellness Program. This initiative which was themed around emotional well-being and mental health for the month of September, is designed to empower students with effective strategies useful for managing and harmonizing the essential aspects of their lives, ultimately promoting holistic wellness and resilience.
We had the privilege of welcoming Ms. Kamala Meenakshi, a Counselling Psychologist affiliated with Fortis Hospitals, Bangalore. She addressed students from Grades VI to VIII, delving into the topic, "Life through an Optimistic Lens."
Through her session, Ms. Kamala emphasized the significance of self-acceptance and encouraged students to approach life's challenges with a positive outlook. She highlighted the importance of cultivating an optimistic mindset and cautioned against embracing pessimism.
Ms. Kamala also generously shared a range of practical strategies aimed at nurturing optimism, including the practice of gratitude, seeking support from one's family, engaging in hobbies, journaling etc.
The session was highly interactive, with engagement and active participation from the students. The session concluded with Ms. Kamala encouraging the students with the reminder that "Armed with determination, optimism, and support, they are fully capable of achieving all their goals and aspirations."
