Grain art is a unique form of artistic expression that has captivated audiences worldwide with its intricate designs and meticulous craftsmanship. From ancient cultures to modern artists, grains have been used as a medium to create stunning works of art.

Recognising the beauty and versatility of grain art, the final CCA event of this academic year, "Exploring India: Grain Art of Karnataka and Leh Ladakh," was organised for students of the upper primary segment to celebrate the creativity and talent of students who harnessed the potential of grains in their creations.

The students presented their work according to the allotted categories: Grade 3 students presented "Flag/Wildlife." Grade 4 students took charge of the category "Mountains,” and Grade 5 students presented the category “Culture and Traditions.”

Students were further divided house-wise to represent their work based on the states of Karnataka and Leh Ladakh.

It was amazing to see little hands and nimble fingers work deftly to create intricate designs and forms that were not only aesthetically appealing but, at the same time, relevant to the competition theme and category. Through their captivating creations, they brought grains to life, transforming humble ingredients into extraordinary works of art that captivated the imagination and inspired awe.

Our judges, Ms. Gayathramma (Faculty of Biology) and Ms. Anuradha Kamboj (Faculty of Chemistry), both from the Senior Segment, assessed the participants on various rubrics like presentation skills, time management, creative skills, different material usage, and colour combination.

Our winners of the event were:

Grade 3:

  • 1st Place: Tejas-3L
  • 2nd Place: Ananta-3A
  • 3rd Place: Lekha-3A
  • Grade 4:

  • 1st Place: Advik-4W
  • 2nd Place: Abhimanyu-4S
  • 3rd Place: Harshita A-4A
  • Grade 5:

  • 1st Place: Samanvi-5A
  • 2nd Place: Prerna-5L
  • 3rd Place: Sloka-5W
  • The Grain Art Competition provided a platform for students to showcase their talent, creativity, and passion for grain-based art forms. By celebrating the beauty and versatility of grains as a medium of artistic expression, the competition fosters appreciation for this unique art form and inspires students to continue pushing the boundaries of creativity.
