The Arrival of New Life
Vasant Panchami, celebrated to mark the arrival of spring (Vasant Ritu) and to honour Goddess Saraswati, the Hindu goddess of knowledge, music, and arts, was observed with great enthusiasm at Whitefield Global School (WGS). This vibrant festival, symbolizing joy and new beginnings, brought the school community together in a spirit of devotion and festivity.
The Sapphire House and the Hindi Department organized a special assembly that beautifully captured the essence of this auspicious occasion. Students danced and sang in harmony with nature, reflecting the joyous spirit of the season.
Goddess Saraswati, the epitome of wisdom and learning, was revered with deep devotion during the assembly. Students paid tribute through graceful performances and melodious songs, creating an atmosphere of spiritual bliss.
The assembly also introduced students to the significance of Akshara Abhyasam and Vidya Arambam, the sacred rituals performed on Vasant Panchami to mark the beginning of learning. They recited a beautiful sloka in praise of Goddess Saraswati, seeking her divine blessings for wisdom and knowledge. This meaningful segment enriched their cultural and spiritual understanding of the festival.
The celebration also served as an educational opportunity, with students learning new words such as ‘panditya’ (scholarship), ‘reverence’ (deep respect), ‘sammaan’ (honour), and ‘erudition’ (deep learning). These words added depth to their comprehension of the festival’s significance.
Through music, dance, and thoughtful reflections, the assembly highlighted the beauty and cultural importance of Vasant Panchami. The event left everyone inspired and connected to the season’s joyous spirit, making it a truly memorable celebration at WGS.
