A common man groans if he has to wake up at 4 am on any particular day, but the students of grade 9 to 12 of Whitefield Global School woke up on 2nd October eagerly. The reason for this anomaly was the excursion which is one of the most awaited events of the year. In an air conditioned bus with foot tapping music and joyous faces, the students visited Somanathapura, Talakadu and Shivanasamudra falls. In Somanathapura the children were fascinated by the wonderful craftsmanship of the Hoysala architecture and heritage. The detailed and infinitesimal carvings which resulted in a huge architectural masterpiece awed all.
Talakadu a desert like town on the left bank of the Kavery river which once had over 20 temples provided an unforgettable experience to the children. The falls of Sivanasamudra were truly spectacular and reflected nature's wonders at its best. The excursion was a perfect blend of history, natural beauty lip smacking food and tremendous fun, which made it a day to be remembered for long.
